Arcata seeks feedback for homeless housing projects
In a December 1, 2021 Times Standard article, “Arcata seeks feedback for homeless housing projects,” Jackson Guilfoil reports on two meetings held by Arcata House Partnership and the Danco Group to solicit input on their proposal to convert two Valley West hotels into housing for the homeless. The first meeting sought comments from currently homeless people, while the second was intended to gather input from housed residents of the area.
“ ‘It would be staffed 24 hours a day, there would be on-site case management and on-site housing stabilization support. The goal is really to provide an opportunity for Housing First,’ [AHP Executive Director Darlene] Spoor said. ‘We want to really be committed to serving the entire community, we know that the homeless population of people who are homeless is just ever-increasing, and we want to be part of the solution.’ “
